Nawiri Awards
The Nawiri Awards honours and recognizes individuals who have made indelible contributions to mental health in Nakuru County. The Awards recognize the achievements and contributions of individuals whose relentlessly efforts have resulted in stigma reduction, improved access to human rights-based services, promotion of community-based psychosocial support, improvement in uptake of services, and promotion of social inclusion.
AIM
The Nawiri Awards aims to recognize and reward the achievements of those who demonstrate excellence, innovation, and initiative in supporting consumers of mental health services, their families, and carers; and showcase best practices in the mental health sector in Nakuru County to inspire others.

NOMINATIONS PROCESS
Submitting Application
The applicant must use the link provided to submit their application. The nominator should provide necessary information on the nominee, including a list of accomplishments. The information should include the nominee’s projects, activities, or initiatives undertaken in mental health in Nakuru since March 2020. Where necessary, supporting documents should be included. The deadline for submission of all nominee applications is 16th September 2022 11:59 pm EAT.
SHORTLISTING and voting
The Award Committee will go through the nominations to shortlist a list of candidates who goes to the second stage of the application process. In addition to the information provided by a nominating party or the nominee, the Committee gathers information independently from various publicly available sources. The committee bases its final decision on several factors, including the number of people impacted, consistency, drive, quality of services, and sustainability. Those shortlisted will be contacted and informed about the second stage of the nomination process. This stage involves seeking votes from the public. The top five finalists in each category will face the judges in the next step.
Judging process
A panel of judges comprised of reputable personalities in Nakuru County will go through the entries for each category, interview each finalist and allocate scores out of ten for each of the following criteria:

Evidence of going above and beyond the expectations for their type of work

Evidence of innovation, sacrifice, and selfless service to humanity

Evidence of sustained impact over the past 2.5 years
-
Evidence of supporting socially disadvantaged groups
-
The number of people impacted.
Judges then submit their scores to the central scoring system, which identifies the top candidate in each category.
AWARD CEREMONY
All finalists will be invited to the Award ceremony that will be held at Nawiri Wellness Center. Senior dignitaries and mental health stakeholders in Nakuru County will be invited to attend the ceremony which will be held at the Nawiri Wellness Center on 14th October 2022

The winners of each category will be announced during the award ceremony where they will be presented with trophies, certificates and cash prizes of KSh 25,000 each.
